Time to Heal!

First, senseless tragedy. May God rest their souls, and bring peace to their families and this nation.

I could do a lecture here on taking God out of society. I could rail on the reactive wave of trying to ban guns. I could do this piece on any number of things that apply to this assault on humanity, but it's time to learn how to heal.

My Dad,rest his soul, had a unique way of handling death. He recognized that there needs to be a period of mourning for the loss and an expression of grief. He said, "go ahead and cry, for you've suffered a great loss."

Then came the but.

"But there comes a time when the grief must come to an end, heal your heart, because grief is but a selfish behavior."

His intent was to show that the person who had passed was who the initial grief was for. Their suffering has ended, they are now lifted into eternity. There is no more pain. To continue to grieve is only for our benefit, and by default a selfish emotion. It serves no good, and only continues our suffering. It's time to remember all the good the departed left us, and while we miss them, remember that we will be together in eternity much longer than we will be apart. This is a cause for celebration!

Keep their memories close, and celebrate your reunion in eternity.

God Bless!

CHRISTmas!

Today is December 13th, so if we were to apply The Twelve Days of Christmas and want it to end on the 25th, we should begin today! But America has begun a shift away from the traditional holidays. Many are trying with fervor to take any religious implication out of this time of year, and some have even traded the traditional Santa image for a political figure. From the celebration of the winter solstice, to Brackoclaus, many in this nation try to rewrite the history of our culture.

Let's face the truth, there is no reason to celebrate the change of season, it happens naturally. But if you really want to admit this is truly a marvel, then you have to concede it's by design, ergo there is a divine power and a reason to celebrate. We don't set aside days off for any other seasonal change, only for days when we want to memorialize something out of the ordinary. So either join in the celebration of the Birth of Christ, or get back to work. If you don't recognize our God's influence in creation and salvation, there is no need for you to celebrate, Christmas is a religious holiday, just like the celebration of Hanukkah, and those calendar days are sacred to our citizens who practice their freedom of religion. Don't hijack our day of remembrance as anything but what it is. The Constitution allows us that right.

I've had it with nonbelievers claiming individuals of faith are stomping all over their rights. Freedom of speech, and expression, goes hand in hand with freedom of religion. When you don't believe in God, that is a right. Just as in believing in God is. I don't stop you from expressing your opinion, or celebrating your belief of a non existence of God, just as you shouldn't stop me from believing or expressing my celebration of God. To suppress one's expression of faith or lack of it is wrong. We are free to openly express our faith as guaranteed in the First Amendment, it doesn't matter if your faith is there is no God, or if your faith is, there is a God; they are both beliefs. It's what you have faith in, it's your religion. While your free to express and celebrate that, your not free to suppress it.

Merry Christmas!

God Bless!

American History Isn't Kind To Bullies!

I saw a post on Facebook today that said, "I stand for the rights of Michigan workers." Obviously pointing to the struggles in Michigan about the right to work laws. I happen to agree with this statement. I stand for the right of everyone to have the option to either participate on not participate in Union representation. I can't understand why, in the freest nation in the world, one would force another to pay for something they don't want in order to gain employment. They should have the option to join if they find it adds value to their life.

This begs the question; why do they have to force people to join the union if it's such a great benefit? Why is it necessary to commit acts of violence while trying to impose your will on a free people? These are the acts of tyranny.

You see in a free market society when a service adds value to an individual's life, it naturally survives and prospers as long as the value exceeds the cost. A great example is electricity. I love the conveniences it provides me, so I gladly pay a company for that service. No one forces me to purchase it. In fact through solar, I could provide myself the same service, but I don't want the hassle or the expense of switching over, yet. If there ever comes a time when the value of the electrical service exceeds what I'm willing to pay, I'll build and install solar panels. I can assure you no one will come knocking at my door and threaten me because I chose to stop using their service. At least no one who values their life.

Union representation is a service. The Michigan bill denies no one the ability to provide or use that service. It simply gives them the option removing the mandatory status for employment. This is how a country of free willed individuals exercise their freedom. We don't bully people with the threat of violence. That's a great way for the "collective" to learn the hard way, tyranny is not acceptable behavior.

So my advice to the union thugs is to stop this emotional immaturity before the freedom loving citizens of this grand republic decide to teach your collective about the right to freedom of choice. "We the people" have had about enough of your socialist agenda and lawless behavior. Actions have consequences, and your current actions do nothing to further your cause. America has a history of dealing with bullies unfavorably. Don't be on the wrong side of history.

God Bless! (bullies included)

Obamacare Reality!

I just got my first taste of the benefits of the Affordable Healthcare Act in the mail.

"These payment adjustments are not based on your individual claim costs. They are based on the combined costs of all company policy holders who have the same plan. Everyone who is covered by this plan in your state is receiving a rate adjustment."

By rate adjustment they mean a 30% increase. Now if I remember correctly the big selling point of this legislation is that it would keep healthcare costs in check. Here's a little more from this bastion of good news...

"We are working hard to provide our customers with high quality insurance at an affordable cost. In spite of our efforts, medical costs continue to go up due to increased use and higher charges for healthcare products and services."

Now I don't want to be the guy who says, "I told you so," but "I told you so!" Part of this premium increase is due to the additional coverage of those with preconditions as the federal government is applying a &63.00/year tax on all healthcare plans to create a slush fund that goes into the Treasury for unspecified reasons. (Note: corporations don't pay taxes, their consumers do). This is another attempt to redistribute the wealth from the "haves" to the "have nots." Backdoor taxation that penalizes those who responsibly carry healthcare insurance.

America is being draw more and more into socialism. We are now redistributing healthcare for the good of the collective. That's a concept taken right out of the Communist Manifesto. We need to refocus on the rights of the individual, fix the problem not the symptom. Healthcare doesn't become affordable by taxing and penalizing those who maintain that responsibility. That just adds an additional burden and creates more without insurance. The solution lies in changing the culture in our country to address the individual, not the collective. You take care of the individual, the collective will be just fine!

God Bless!

I Believe!!!!!

Belief is a powerful tool. It's amazing how the body reacts to a simple expression of belief. In fact it's often used to promote gadgets and products that actually do nothing short of instilling a belief in the person who's using them.

How many times have you seen demonstrations for magnets, wristlet, or even "smart water," where they take a volunteer from the crowd and ask them to raise their leg, arm, or do a test of range of motion? Then they strap on the device, or have them drink the magic potion and presto-chango, they can extend further than they did just seconds ago. It's not the potion nor the device that influenced their body to go beyond previous boundaries. It was the hope the host instilled in them that they could. Remove the magnet, wristlet, or magic potion and simply make a belief statement. The body will respond in kind.

So now that you are aware of the consumer alert, use the power of belief to accomplish the things that you've self talked yourself out of accomplishing! You can touch your toes, you can do those extra push-ups, you can demand a better salary, you can fix your marriage, you are worthy! We are a product of what we think. The power of suggestion can, and will, change your results. Now go touch your toes!

God Bless!

No Greater Love!

I absolutely love this story of self sacrifice and love for your fellow man! No greater love has man than to lay down his life for another! Enjoy!

Capt. Bill

The death camp Auschwitz became the killing center during WWII where the largest numbers of European Jews were murdered by the Nazis. One Christian man who died here became a martyr to the truth of evils of Nazism - a true hero for our time, a saint who lived what he preached, total love toward God and man ...

A Polish priest who died as prisoner 16770 in Auschwitz, When a prisoner escaped from the camp, the Nazis selected 10 others to be killed by starvation in reprisal for the escape. One of the 10 selected to die, Franciszek Gajowniczek, began to cry: My wife! My children! I will never see them again! At this Maximilian Kolbe stepped forward and asked to die in his place. His request was granted ...

The story begins on 8 January, 1894 - Raymond Kolbe was born the second son of a poor weaver at Zdunska Wola near Lodz in Poland. In his infancy Raymond seems to have been normally mischievous but one day, after his mother had scolded him for some mischief or other, her words took effect and brought about a radical change in the child's behavior. Later Raymond explained this change:'That night I asked the Mother of God what was to become of me. Then she came to me holding two crowns, one white, the other red. She asked if I was willing to accept either of these crowns. The white one meant that I should persevere in purity, and the red that I should become a martyr. I said that I would accept them both.'

Thus early did the child believe and accept that he was destined for martyrdom. His belief in his dream coloured all his future actions.

In 1910 he became a Franciscan, taking the name Maximilian. He studied at Rome and was ordained in 1919. He returned to Poland and taught Church history in a seminary. He built a friary just west of Warsaw, which eventually housed 762 Franciscans and printed eleven periodicals, one with a circulation of over a million, including a daily newspaper.

In 1930 he went to Asia, where he founded friaries in Nagasaki and in India. In 1936 he was recalled to supervise the original friary near Warsaw. When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, he knew that the friary would be seized, and sent most of the friars home. He was imprisoned briefly and then released, and returned to the friary, where he and the other friars began to organize a shelter for 3,000 Polish refugees, among whom were 2,000 Jews. The friars shared everything they had with the refugees. They housed, fed and clothed them, and brought all their machinery into use in their service.

Inevitably, the community came under suspicion and was watched closely. Then in May 1941 the friary was closed down and Maximilian and four companions were taken to the deathcamp Auschwitz, where they worked with the other prisoners.

On June 15, 1941, he managed to write a letter to his mother...

One day an SS officer found some of the heaviest planks he could lay hold of and personally loaded them on the Franciscan's back, ordering him to run. When he collapsed, the SS officer kicked him in the stomach and face and had his men give him fifty lashes. When the priest lost consciousness the Nazis threw him in the mud and left him for dead. But his companions managed to smuggle him to the camp infirmary - and he recovered. The doctor, Rudolph Diem, later recalled:'I can say with certainty that during my four years in Auschwitz, I never saw such a sublime example of the love of God and one's neighbor.'

Prisoners at Auschwitz were slowly and systematically starved, and their pitiful rations were barely enough to sustain a child: one cup of imitation coffee in the morning, and weak soup and half a loaf of bread after work. When food was brought, everyone struggled to get his place and be sure of a portion. Father Maximilian Kolbe however, stood aside in spite of the ravages of starvation, and frequently there would be none left for him. At other times he shared his meager ration of soup or bread with others.

In the harshness of the slaughterhouse Father Kolbe maintained the gentleness of Christ. At night he seldom would lie down to rest. He moved from bunk to bunk, saying: 'I am a Catholic priest. Can I do anything for you?'

A prisoner later recalled how he and several others often crawled across the floor at night to be near the bed of Father Kolbe, to make their confessions and ask for consolation. Father Kolbe pleaded with his fellow prisoners to forgive their persecutors and to overcome evil with good. When he was beaten by the guards, he never cried out. Instead, he prayed for his tormentors.

A Protestant doctor who treated the patients in Block 12 later recalled how Father Kolbe waited until all the others had been treated before asking for help. He constantly sacrificed himself for the others.

In order to discourage escapes, Auschwitz had a rule that if a man escaped, ten men would be killed in retaliation. In July 1941 a man from Kolbe's bunker escaped. The dreadful irony of the story is that the escaped prisoner was later found drowned in a camp latrine, so the terrible reprisals had been exercised without cause. But the remaining men of the bunker were led out.

'The fugitive has not been found!' the commandant Karl Fritsch screamed. 'You will all pay for this. Ten of you will be locked in the starvation bunker without food or water until they die.' The prisoners trembled in terror. A few days in this bunker without food and water, and a man's intestines dried up and his brain turned to fire.

The ten were selected, including Franciszek Gajowniczek, imprisoned for helping the Polish Resistance. He couldn't help a cry of anguish. 'My poor wife!' he sobbed. 'My poor children! What will they do?' When he uttered this cry of dismay, Maximilian stepped silently forward, took off his cap, and stood before the commandant and said, 'I am a Catholic priest. Let me take his place. I am old. He has a wife and children.'

Astounded, the icy-faced Nazi commandant asked, 'What does this Polish pig want?'

Father Kolbe pointed with his hand to the condemned Franciszek Gajowniczek and repeated 'I am a Catholic priest from Poland; I would like to take his place, because he has a wife and children.'

Observers believed in horror that the commandant would be angered and would refuse the request, or would order the death of both men. The commandant remained silent for a moment. What his thoughts were on being confronted by this brave priest we have no idea. Amazingly, however, he acceded to the request. Apparantly the Nazis had more use for a young worker than for an old one, and was happy to make the exchange. Franciszek Gajowniczek was returned to the ranks, and the priest took his place.

Gajowniczek later recalled:

'I could only thank him with my eyes. I was stunned and could hardly grasp what was going on. The immensity of it: I, the condemned, am to live and someone else willingly and voluntarily offers his life for me - a stranger. Is this some dream?

I was put back into my place without having had time to say anything to Maximilian Kolbe. I was saved. And I owe to him the fact that I could tell you all this. The news quickly spread all round the camp. It was the first and the last time that such an incident happened in the whole history of Auschwitz.

For a long time I felt remorse when I thought of Maximilian. By allowing myself to be saved, I had signed his death warrant. But now, on reflection, I understood that a man like him could not have done otherwise. Perhaps he thought that as a priest his place was beside the condemned men to help them keep hope. In fact he was with them to the last.'‘

Father Kolbe was thrown down the stairs of Building 13 along with the other victims and simply left there to starve. Hunger and thirst soon gnawed at the men. Some drank their own urine, others licked moisture on the dank walls. Maximilian Kolbe encouraged the others with prayers, psalms, and meditations on the Passion of Christ. After two weeks, only four were alive. The cell was needed for more victims, and the camp executioner, a common criminal called Bock, came in and injected a lethal dose of cabolic acid into the left arm of each of the four dying men. Kolbe was the only one still fully conscious and with a prayer on his lips, the last prisoner raised his arm for the executioner. His wait was over ...

A personal testimony about the way Maximilian Kolbe met death is given by Bruno Borgowiec, one of the few Poles who were assigned to render service to the starvation bunker. He told it to his parish priest before he died in 1947:

'The ten condemned to death went through terrible days. From the underground cell in which they were shut up there continually arose the echo of prayers and canticles. The man in-charge of emptying the buckets of urine found them always empty. Thirst drove the prisoners to drink the contents. Since they had grown very weak, prayers were now only whispered. At every inspection, when almost all the others were now lying on the floor, Father Kolbe was seen kneeling or standing in the centre as he looked cheerfully in the face of the SS men.

Father Kolbe never asked for anything and did not complain, rather he encouraged the others, saying that the fugitive might be found and then they would all be freed. One of the SS guards remarked: this priest is really a great man. We have never seen anyone like him ..

Two weeks passed in this way. Meanwhile one after another they died, until only Father Kolbe was left. This the authorities felt was too long. The cell was needed for new victims. So one day they brought in the head of the sick-quarters, a German named Bock, who gave Father Kolbe an injection of carbolic acid in the vein of his left arm. Father Kolbe, with a prayer on his lips, himself gave his arm to the executioner. Unable to watch this I left under the pretext of work to be done. Immediately after the SS men had left I returned to the cell, where I found Father Kolbe leaning in a sitting position against the back wall with his eyes open and his head drooping sideways. His face was calm and radiant ..'

So it was that Father Maximilian Kolbe was executed on 14 August, 1941 at the age of forty-seven years, a martyr of charity. The death certificate, as always made out with German precision, indicated the hour of death 12.30.

Father Kolbe's body was removed to the crematorium, and without dignity or ceremony was disposed of, like hundreds of thousands who had gone before him, and hundreds of thousands more who would follow.

The heroism of Father Kolbe went echoing through Auschwitz. In that desert of hatred he had sown love. A survivor Jozef Stemler later recalled: 'In the midst of a brutalization of thought, feeling and words such as had never before been known, man indeed became a ravening wolf in his relations with other men. And into this state of affairs came the heroic self-sacrifice of Father Kolbe.' Another survivor Jerzy Bielecki declared that Father Kolbe's death was 'a shock filled with hope, bringing new life and strength ... It was like a powerful shaft of light in the darkness of the camp.'

The cell where Father Kolbe died is now a shrine. Maximilian Kolbe was beatified as Confessor by Paul VI in 1970, and canonized as Martyr by Pope John Paul II in 1981.

But what happened to Gajowniczek - the man Father Kolbe saved?

He died on March 13, 1995, at Brzeg in Poland, 95 years old - and 53 years after Kolbe had saved him. But he was never to forget the ragged monk. After his release from Auschwitz, Gajowniczek made his way back to his hometown, with the dream of seeing his family again. He found his wife but his two sons had been killed during the war.

Every year on August 14 he went back to Auschwitz. He spent the next five decades paying homage to Father Kolbe, honoring the man who died on his behalf.

Now You Know!

Why do you suppose the President is so adamant about increasing the tax rates on the rich? Other pathways have been provided to increase tax revenue to meet his requirements, yet he stands firmly on his plan to increase the percentage number in the IRS column for people who earn six figure incomes.

Why do you suppose the President wants to polarize one income group form another? What good does it do to treat anyone individual differently from another? Weren't we all created equal, and assured equal treatment under the law? Isn't the tax code a law?

These are all great questions I'd like answered, and not with the lame excuse that they are in a better position to make the sacrifice. People with two kidneys are in a better position to sacrifice one to solve the problem of kidney failure, but it's not right to mandate they donate one for the collective good.

This is all part of a disturbing trend in our political arena. Men are pitted against women, because of an announced "war on women." Races are given reason to scrutanize at each other because they are seperated from one another with political pandering, rather than unifying them as one human race. Income rates are classified in an attempt to demonize success, and through polarization prosperity has become evil rather than something to strive for. This is America 2012.

A unified America is a dangerous thing to the politician. If the citizens didn't see things through skin color, incomes, and gender, but through what was good for the individual, pandering to a specific voting block would become extinct, and the agenda would shift to freedom. Freedom scares a politician. Freedom doesn't need government oversight. Freedom make politicians less significant. Freedom lessens their power.

And it's all about power, isn't it?

At The Point Of a Gun!

One of the necessary evils of government is those who are governed cede a monopoly of force to those who govern. That's why our second amendment allows for the individual to be armed, because our founders understood that the only way to stop tyranny is to level the playing field.

The force of the government should only be applied on things we would use force on ourselves. Rape, incest, murder, and robbery come to mind as situations where force is warranted, by both the individual and the government. A government should never use force to build a library or redistribute wealth. It's not the job of the government to do those things. Those are decisions left to the people. I don't care what grandiose idea government has to make it's citizen's life better, there will be dissent from at least one person. That alone is reason enough that one person's money should not be forcefully taken away to enlist it in the use of a project or program they don't want to fund. It's impeding upon their right to make decisions of their free will.

Now should the community decide they would love to have a library, and they organize and fund it on their own, then this is at the expense of no one who disagrees and detracts from no one's liberty.

To take from another by force, even if under the guise of government, is theft. To willingly band together for the good of the collective is community. Community is not government. Government is not community. Never allow the two to be confused with each other!

God Bless!

Milestones!

There are two milestones in a child's life. Some people fail to recognize them because they usually happen during some type of tantrum, but none the less they are significant. After a child's birth they are dependent upon Mom to keep them fed, in clean clothes, and out of trouble. Parents yearn for the moment when the fruits of their loins show signs of independence so the burden of dependence upon them is relaxed. Can you remember when your child first looked at you with demanding eyes and announced, "let me do it myself"?

That was them striking a blow for independence! While it certainly came at a frustrating moment as striking out to achieve one's individual freedom is usually confrontational, we most likely responded in kind with something akin to, "well go ahead then, suit yourself." It probably hurt our feeling a little to be told we weren't as needed as moments before, but that announcement should have brought pride to a parent's heart. Your child is finally independent.

Enjoy this fleeting moment! Not long after the second phase of growth kicks in. Again it goes unnoticed because it occurs in a yet another moment of frustration. "Can you do this for me?" A common phrase of the teenage vocabulary, it usually follows a statement like, "you never let me do anything I want." Or, "will you tell dad I'm old enough to do things for myself!" Despite the obvious signs of brain damage, this is a natural occurrence. I like to think of it as the initial signs of interdependence, certainly a sign your child is about to blossom into an adult and become dependent upon their mate. Look at it as a test of how interdependence fits into their lives. They haven't figured out how the guidelines of interdependence works, so they are reverting back to dependence.

This is when you have to overcome the frustration of the moment and nudge them into the understanding of how an interdependent lifestyle involves their cooperation too. The sooner they understand that principle, the quicker you'll see their independence blossom. Don't miss your chance to be the influence that promotes this growth!

God Bless!

It's A Matter Of Choice!

Living in freedom is a dangerous thing. There are people out there who abuse our freedom by committing countless acts of violence against themselves and the rest of society. This is a necessary evil. The opposite is a solitary confinement, where freedom is not allowed, and that's the only way to insure a safe environment from others.

But God wants us to be free. When He place Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, freedom was part of the deal. They had the option of choice, represented by the tree of forbidden fruit. You see Eden was paradise, and everything was perfect. Part of that perfection included freedom. God could have preserved Adam and Eve in the paradise by not granting them freedom of choice, but then they could have been considered prisoners. So part of perfection is freedom.

So when someone tries to restrict your freedom by offering you a safe environment, know that your moving closer to the imprisonment of solitude, because that is the only way you'll be safe from others. When another tries to convince you to trade off your freedom for security, know that is not God's will, and as Jesus said, "He who is not with me is against me." Matthew 12:30

Guard you freedom my friends! It's under assault everyday!

Here's A Lesson!

There is another government back fiscal balloon that's destined to pop, as did the rest of the artificially created boons. What Washington fails to realize is when you subsidize something, you tend to get more of it, which was possibly their well meant intent when it came to government backed student loans. Offering everyone a higher level of education is of the best intentions, but left unchecked like most government backed fiscal boondoggles, they run amok.

The government subsidized college loan system is exactly like the government intervention into the housing market. Once again both programs were designed with good intentions, but there is a reason this type of activity isn't specifically outlined in the enumerated powers of the Constitution.

The learning institutions have no boundaries, and just like the housing market's inflated prices became it's downfall, the rate of tuition increase knows no ceiling. The money is provided by the government without qualification, no matter what price the Universities decide to place on their services. A recipe for disaster, not unlike the housing market crash that just caused the depression.

And not unlike the housing crash, no one says a word!

Why is that? Because America enjoys the handout without concern for the price of repayment. Our long term vision is blurred by the readily available government cash that brings opportunity to attend an institution that would normally be outside our personal budget. Colleges flourish, students suffer after graduating with a degree that isn't marketable, and a debt that rivals a mortgage of a dwelling in a high end neighborhood. Have you not wondered why you never see the ads on TV asking you to donate to the "college relief fund?"

The don't need relief! In fact most of them are sitting on endowment funds that could fund them for the next decade. Now do they really need to charge that much for higher education, or are they simply milking the golden cow offered by the government?

You decide!

Do You Know?

I had a great question posed to me yesterday, one I imagine most would fail to answer. Who is you local counsel person? It was then followed by this... Who is you state representative? I'm sad to say the answer was not on the tip of my tongue, but then it was explained why. They have been demeaned to insignificance. We all focus on federal government.

This is the symptom of a bigger problem. We are no longer addressing issues at the lowest possible level, we are looking to the massive bureaucracy in Washington to be the answer. Don't your local officials understand what your personal needs are best? How could someone so far away have a grasp on how what they do affects you?

The short answer is they cannot. Alexis De Tocqueville admired our system of government because of the usage of townships, where everyone got together to address local issues and find resolutions. We've abandoned that model for a monarchy style where big brother is there to save us. We've traded our freedom for convenience and it is the result of apathy.

Get to know who your locals are. Make them address the issues that plague your community. Find your freedom again!

Be The Antidote!

I ran across some interesting statistics last evening. The out of marriage birthrate in the United States in 1940 was 3%. A little caveat that goes hand in hand with this statistic is there was little to no means of contraception available back then, and abortion was unheard of. During the sexual revolution of the 1960's that rate increased to 5%, then it blossomed to 18.4% in the 1980's.

Would it surprise you that in today's world of free contraception, and on demand abortion, that rate has skyrocketed to 39.6%? This is in addition to the 750,000 abortions performed last year.

We have raised a generation or two that fails to consider long term consequences. Being this is one of the concepts of the successful individual, it certainly should set off alarm bells about the future. I think I'm beginning to understand now why America is slipping into a country of dependency. Actions are not thought through, and outcomes are not considered. Why not vote for government dependency when you cannot look far enough down the road to fathom it's a sacrifice of your liberty? Our culture is living in the moment. We've become so accustom to having what we want, when we want it, that it's become unusual to think farther ahead than our next trip to a drive through.

This can only be defeated by learning the principles of delayed gratification and applying long term thinking. Quite frankly the opposite has reached epidemic proportions and is threatening our freedom, and soon our very existence. We have to remind ourselves the four overarching desires in life are...

1) A life of purpose

2) Happiness

3) Prosperity

4) Freedom

None of those will exist without long term thinking and practicing delayed gratification. Live it...Teach it!

This Is Taxing!

James Madison frequently remarked that “all just and free government derives from social compact.” Indeed, this is the basis of government in the Declaration of Independence, which specifies that the “just powers” of government derive from the “consent of the governed.” Because “all men are created equal”—because, that is, no one by nature has the right to rule anyone else—the only legitimate source of rule is the consent of those who are to be ruled, and the only legitimate reason for consent is for the “safety and happiness” of those who agree to be ruled. In agreeing to join civil society, each individual freely accepts the obligation to protect the rights of fellow citizens in return for the protection of his own rights. The “just powers” of government are thus directed to the equal protection of the equal rights of those who consent to be governed. Equal rights—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—derive from “the laws of nature and of nature’s God.” Equal protection of those rights is the very definition of the rule of law. Equal protection of the laws is thus intrinsic both to the social compact and to the Constitution.

Equal protection under the law, what a concept! There was a time in my life when if a case was brought before a judge the arresting officer would be asked if the same charges were leveled against his or her mother, would they have arrested her? Had the officer said no, you would here a loud, "case dismissed" from the bench, and for good reason. You cannot enforce a law against one citizen and not another. That's were the concept of equal justice under the law applies. The law applies to you, as it does to me.

Enter our tax code...

The tax code is a law. It is unfair and unjust to tax one citizen at a different rate than another! Suppose we decided everyone with red hair should pay extra? What if all right handed people had a higher percentage levied against them? Taxes were designed to fund the government, not to punish it's citizens. When will Washington ever get this concept?

I Literally Mean This!

Has anyone else noticed that the same people who mock the literal interpretation of the Bible and specifically Genesis, also have the same issue with the Constitution?

Does anything written ever mean to those people what it says? I pray to God above none of them ever fill prescriptions. Can you imagine the problems caused by opening up instructions to interpretations?

What is the Bible and the Constitution but a set of instructions? Not unlike the doctor prescribed dose written on a script pad, they were meant to be followed verbatim. They literally mean what they say. I mean really, why would a group of men sit around and hammer out a document after days and hours of deliberation and have it subject to interpretation?

There has to be a point where a modicum of common sense kicks in and people realize that the written word means what it says. We don't have to read between the lines....The lines speak for themselves.

A Little Ditty!

Sometimes we get caught up in all the hubbub. Take the time to reflect and enjoy what god has given you. Here's a little poem to celebrate the day....

I heard a bird sing

In the dark of December.

A magical thing

And sweet to remember.

"We are nearer to Spring

Than we were in September,”

I heard a bird sing

In the dark of December

Then And Now!

Excerpts taken from "The American Democrat" James Fenimore Cooper, 1838. Do you think they've strayed?

"It is the role of the citizen to responsibly exercise his God-given right to self-government. Every citizen must also obey the laws and guard the rights of his fellow man."

"Also, the American democrat must keep his representatives in check, constantly questioning their motives and objectively judging policy initiatives in comparison with the constitution, not their own values, prejudices, or opinions."

In fact, "the elector who gives his vote, on any grounds, party or personal, to an unworthy candidate, violates a sacred public duty, and is unfit to be a freeman."

Additionally, the democrat is "one who is willing to admit of a free competition, in all things ... he is the purest democrat who best maintains his right, and no rights can be dearer to a man of cultivation, than exemptions from unseasonable invasions on his time, by the coarse-minded and ignorant."

You going love this part....

In the U.S., Cooper argues that the most dangerous abuse of the government is taking advantage of the citizens to gain or maintain authority. Consequently, Cooper disparages the demagogue and political manager who pursue their own interest "by affecting a deep devotion to the interests of the people" and by "put[ting] the people before the constitution and the laws in face of the obvious truth that people have paced the laws before themselves."

Now how did the democrat party get from the above, to where they are today? Secret, it was before the progressives hijacked the party. Check the date on the essay! It was prior to the Roosevelts and Woodrow Wilson.

Walk It Back!

I've had a couple of great debate/discussions over the weekend with people of differing opinions, and during those interactions the frustration of having no valid argument led one of the participants to resort to announcing, "Well, that's just your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine just as you are to yours."

Agreed! We found common ground! Except.....

We were discussing the principles this nation was founded upon, and his opinion wasn't very well thought out. So I led him down the road to reason. My opinion was grounded in the founders original design, which was inspired by the teachings of John Locke, Montesquieu, George Whitefield, the study of Greek and Roman civilizations, Plato, Socrates, the Laws of Nature, and finally the principles of the Bible. I missed a few, but you get the picture of where I was going. In turn I pointed out that his opinion was based upon the teaching and writing of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Alinsky, and every other radical with a socialist/communist agenda.

Point being, he never thought through what the basis of his opinion was. He didn't know where the principles he espoused came from. He was simply repeating rhetoric he'd heard that sounded pleasing to him. Wouldn't it be nice if the government supplied you with all your needs? No, it always turns out as hell on earth portrayed as heaven.

Look the Bible is quite clear, we are our brother's keeper, not the government. To pass off our charitable acts to a government entity is living like a serf. Socialism has never worked because it lacks personal responsibility, that's why our founders choose to design this great nation as a republic. Challenge stinking thinking and ask them what are those opinions based upon. Then walk them back to where they were originally voiced and show them the horrors they created. If they still can't see the point, quickly walk away.

'Tis the Season!

Today is opening day for the season of giving. I absolutely love this time of year. Right after you sit down and give thanks for all the blessings you've received, you get to pay those blessings forward. We launch this much anticipated season at our church with the erection of a giving tree filled with names of deserving children who, that without outside help, would have a less than eventful Christmas. My little blessing is a 10 year old little girl by the name of Myrlande. I love what they ask for, she would like a pair of size 4 shoes, and a medium shirt. How needy a world does this blessing from God live in that her requests are so simple?

I have the absolute intention of expanding this young lady's horizons. It's my personal mission to see that she can believe that hopes and dreams can come true, and there are people out there who will help her see a brighter future. In fact, I left church and went directly to the store to do some dream building for her. I'm afraid it's been quite sometime since I've been aware of what a 10 year old young lady yearns for, but I'm going to seek counsel on that so my horizons are broadened too. It's a win/win! It ignites the inner child inside of me.

Maybe a pretty new dress and matching shoes to wear to church Christmas morning, some sneakers to wear outside, and a slew of shirts and jeans. Christmas wouldn't be complete without some sort of toy to play with, and I'm thinking a couple of good books to expand that medium size horizon. It would probably be a welcome gift to provide her with her own personal Rosary and Bible, so she can give faith a chance, and understand where her blessings come from.

There is plenty of research to do so that size 4 heart is properly set aglow with the joy of Christmas. The best part is I get to choose another young soul on Thursday evening whose needs won't be fulfilled without some outside intervention. I can't wait to see what this one will ask for! I'm a little worried that having this much fun might taken over by the government and have bag limits imposed on it. But until then, please join me in making other's wishes come true!

Too Smart For Your Own Good!

It's not hard to tell I love a debate! Not so much because of the aspect of someone winning and someone losing, but because so much is learned when we are challenged. It also exposes how much we need to learn, and how little we understand. Nothing fulfills me more than an opportunity to say to a debate opponent, "great point!" That's a time when I've been introduced to new thinking I've not considered, or a fact I've overlooked! You see we as humans are fallible. Case in point....

Who was the smartest man to ever walk the face of the earth? I suggest to you wholeheartedly it was Jesus! Here was an individual who held the secrets to the universe, the keys to creation, and an understanding to everything in existence. How did we reward ourselves for this gift of knowledge? We murdered him. Right now Jesus could be walking here beside us, giving us tidbits of wisdom and unlocking the secrets of the universe, but no man new better. This isn't an isolated incident of mankind shooting himself in the foot. I take you back to the dawn of creation. We were blessed with heaven. No sin, no pain, no disease, and an abundance of everything. We had freedom of choice and a will of our own. How did we treat this utopia? Using our poorest judgement we broke the only rule supplied to us and were evicted from paradise.

When will mankind stop taking it's own advice?

Media War Exposed!

Well now the turkey is all packed away and our waistlines have exceeded our current belt hole, it's time for a little amusement. Knowing that the liberal position is shaky at best, MSNBC has decided that to help even the scales by indoctrinating their lemmings as to how to defend their position during the presumed holiday political discussions. I kid you not, they supplied talking points for Thanksgiving dinner.

http://tv.msnbc.com/2012/11/21/awww-snap-msnbcs-top-10-comebacks-for-use-against-the-family-conservative/

This way when all those college students came home for their Thanksgiving dose of reality, they could defend their mindless devotion to the liberal point of view. Television doesn't want informed people undoing all their hard work propagandizing their mesmerized audience. Now why would a news outlet be concerned about what the family discusses during the holiday feast?

This is just more evidence of the media war against common sense. It's pretty apparent that television has decided it's their job to spoon feed us our opinions. It's always been my position to hear, and process what another has to say, then garner my opinion and well thought out response. You don't have to do that anymore! They've supplied with not only your opinion but the defense of that opinion, so you don't have to think. Just accept what they've told you as factual, and you never have to be bothered with thinking again. Just think, no more research of the facts! Wait, I just asked you to think, my bad.

Here's the part I really found hilarious. The responses supplied will be destroyed by any informed individual. The media assumes the discussion will be carried on between two parties that are equally uninformed! I love the comparison of voter fraud to UFO sightings. The use of Hurricane Sandy and climate change to redirect the conversation away from the election was another classic Alinsky move. But then you are fact checking, hungry students and wise to all the tricks of the indoctrinators, a flick of your tongue and the misinformed will have to tune in for more ways to respond.

"Wait, hold that thought, I have to call media matters for my rebuttal."

Someday I pray those people will learn to discern for themselves, and we can have a real discussion grounded in fact. It is a great example of what we are facing in the media war. They are not a neutral party, and we must guard what kind of input we and the ones we love are subject to. Now I'm clear on where all this nonsense comes from!

Build The Relationship!

Well, first of all, Happy Thanksgiving! This is a time when we praise God or all the blessings in our lives, especially the relationships! The more of these Thanksgivings I put behind me the more I realize how important building the relationship is. If you think about the times life has made you cry, I'm willing to bet you can admit it was relationship related. When true joy has filled your heart, it was relationship related. Starting to get the picture?

Wouldn't it make sense to work on building relationships, and wouldn't be wise to celebrate the ones we've been gifted with today? And wouldn't it be really smart to cement a relationship with your Creator everyday?

Bill Cosby had an incredibly funny and pertinent line in one of his sitcoms. "I brought you into this world, I can take you out." The same applies to your Creator. A intelligent individual might want to consider keeping this relationship a tight one. Have trust in the Lord and be thankful for the blessings He's bestowed upon us!

It's All About YOU!

Since we are on the eve of Thanksgiving, I thought a little inspiration is in order.

Love and forgiveness for both yourself and others is the prerequisite for fulfilled living and prosperity. Any thoughts of fear, resentment, anger, vengefulness, or unworthiness repels the very energy that circulates goodness and abundance in your life. We are the vehicles through which success and happiness operates, and frankly, we are it's very essence. Through our choices and our intentions, we direct this energy toward prosperity or decline. The key to becoming the master of your future is learning to control how we think, how we act, and how we treat others. You alone determine your outcome, happiness, success, and living a life of fulfillment is simply a choice.

Remember to give thanks and count your blessings!

This You Need To Know!

There are certain signs that spark intense concern, and the one that absolutely puts me on full alert is when I find myself in agreement with democrats. If there ever was a cause that our nation needs to pay attention to, it's one that both sides are in equal agreement over. That cause has surfaced. It's United Nations Agenda 21.

U.N. Agenda 21 cites the affluence of Americans as being a major problem which needs to be corrected. It calls for lowering the standard of living for Americans so that the people in poorer countries will have more, a redistribution of wealth. Although people around the world aspire to achieve the levels of prosperity we have in our country, and will risk their lives to get here, Americans are cast in a very negative light and need to be taken down to a condition closer to average in the world. Only then, they say, will there be social justice which is a cornerstone of the U.N. Agenda 21 plan.

Agenda 21 policies date back to the 70's but it got its real start in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro when President Bush signed onto it. President Clinton took office the following year and created the President's Council on Sustainable Development to implement it in the United States. Made up of federal agencies, corporations, and non-profit groups, the President's Council on Sustainable Development moved quickly to ensure that all federal agencies would change their policies to comply with UN Agenda 21. A non-governmental organization called the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives, ICLEI, is tasked with carrying out the goals of Agenda 21 worldwide. Remember: UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development is a global plan that is implemented locally. Over 600 cities in the U.S. are members; our town joined in 2007. The costs are paid by taxpayers.

It's time that people educate themselves and read the document and related commentary. After that, get a copy of your city or county's General Plan and read it. You will find all sorts of policies that are nearly identical to those in U.N. Agenda 21. Unfortunately, their policies have advanced largely unnoticed and we are now in the end game. People need to identify their elected officials who are promoting the U.N.'s policies and hold them accountable for their actions. Only when we've identified who the people are and what they are trying to do will we be able to evaluate whether or not we approve of the policies they are putting forward. Some people may think it's appropriate for agencies outside the United States to set our policies and some people will not. The question is, aren't Americans able to develop their own policies? Should we rely on an organization that consists of member nations that have different forms of governments, most of which do not value individual rights as much as we do? It's time to bring U.N. Agenda 21 out in the open where we can have these debates and then set our own policies in accordance with our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

See more about this @

This totally explains where our current President and his Secretary of State are trying to take our country.

Why I Can't Be Liberal!

There are two main reasons why I could never be a liberal. First I'm lazy, it takes way to much effort to defend a mantra that simply isn't true, and second I have this crazy need to be right. To be conservative is by definition to conserve, like in energy. You have to work way too hard to be liberal.

Think about it. The hypocrisy of defending abortion, then screaming for justice by charging for a double murder when a pregnant woman is killed. Isn't it just easier to defend the unborn from the get go? Liberals claim to want to help the poor, but you can usually find there are very small, if any contributions to charity on their part. They complain about big business, and then about unemployment. They want redistribution of wealth, until it's their wealth they redistribute. Point out the lack of morals of an elected or appointed official after having a liberal President who used the Oval Office for his own illicit sex acts. Making objects like guns, money, or food responsible for an individual's lack of responsibility. The list is exhaustive, and frankly I've already put too much effort into this.

Just defend the truth, apply Biblical principles, and stop spinning propaganda around falsehoods. It's not complicated, and way easier to remember. The truth has no agenda, it simply is. Besides I'm embarrassed for you when conservatives have to go back and correct your misconceptions. It just looks bad when your hypocrisy, or lack of thinking things through to a logical conclusion is pointed out.

HO-HO'S-NO-MO

I saw a post today about how capitalism created the rise of the Hostess Corporation, and socialism was it's demise. Truer words have never been spoken. Most will blame the lack of concession by the unions, but it wasn't the concessions that did in this business, it was increasing overhead partially caused by the socialist principles based in unionizing the workforce.

In a free capitalistic business environment people are paid for performance. If you excel you get the best wages and benefits, because the company values your work. The same principle applies to them as it does to you. If the company refuses to honor your work by paying a fair wage and offering your perks to stay, your free to offer your services to another.

Now in the union socialist model, everyone is paid and perked the same. The slacker is compensated equally to the high performer. Pretty soon the high performer says, "What the heck! Why should I work harder than everyone else and not be appreciated financially?" Work output declines, more labor has to be hired, and expenses increase. It's all fair though! Everyone is enjoying the same compensation. Now they are all enjoying the same glee of unemployment.

It doesn't take long before the price of the goods produced can be undercut by another and it's market place value isn't appreciated by the consumer. Consumers, like employers, want the maximum value for their buck. Encouraging equal pay for unequal performance doesn't produce ultimate efficiency. No sales, no jobs, period!

Some will blame the venture capitalist's who tried to save the company. Some will blame the greedy corporation, some will blame the economy, and some will blame the government, the truth is the blame lies in the socialist principles created by unionizing the work force. Honor exceptionalism!

Hey Pilgrim!

We are fast coming upon the week of Thanksgiving. I like to take this time to reflect about what a wonderful gift I've been given by my Creator. The blessings just seem to keep flowing, and what better way to acknowledge these gifts than to be thankful?

Life is what you choose to make it. One could take a negative pose and spin everything that God sends your way as a punishment, or we can understand that challenges are there to make us stronger! How blessed are we that we have a Creator who cares enough to give us the opportunity to shine in the face of adversity?

Here's my suggestion to you. Take the next few days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday and highlight your blessings. Giving thanks shouldn't be just a one day affair, it's how I choose to start each and everyday. I'd like to invite you to do the same! Other than the expansion of our waistline, what could be better than to make everyday Thanksgiving?

You Bet Your Sweet Bippy!

I've always been told by Orrin Woodward that the best way to teach anything is to reinforce it with a story. People can visualize and put themselves into the picture you paint, so they retain the information better. After doing a little mental gymnastics, I've concluded that this is no secret and we've been subject to this type of mind play for quite sometime.

I present to you television, the greatest story teller of all time. Where did America learn to accept the immoral decline we've come to live? Well having watched the process first hand, I can honestly point the finger at the boob tube. Days of yore gave us wholesome TV shows like Father Knows Best, replaced by the likes of Family Guy and a slew of others. Soap operas taught us it's okay to sleep around, and frankly any behavior isn't off limits. We have sitcoms that promote the decline of the family, disrespect of authority, and every conceivable immoral act a writer can contrive.

Looking back I believe the decline began with Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, backed up by the sitcom All In The Family. While I have to admit I was one who found plenty of humor in both of those shows, they also represented the production of topics that few openly talked about. The decline began as the slippery slope was broached. Soap Operas got more risque, and the comedy got raunchier. HBO launched when cable TV was introduced, and the censorship went out the window. We were able to learn every dysfunctional behavior right in our own living rooms, and we did. All taught to us by story lines dreamed up by television writers.

As the old saying goes, garbage in, garbage out. We are a product of the entertainment we've been subject to. What better way to make unacceptable behavior acceptable, than to desensitize us to it by daily exposure to it? How do you make the unacceptable the norm, than to portray it as normal? What better way to teach than by telling a story.....

A Sad Day In America!

Yesterday had to be the low point of American history, and I hope it goes down as such in the archives of this great nation. For the first time since the dawn of this great nation the President stood before the American people and declared the republic has morphed into a mob controlled democracy. He stated that he has a mandate by his reelection to tax the wealthy at a higher rate, thereby signifying if the majority says it's okay to take private property from another, this is right and just.

We first began to strip the individual of their rights when we disallowed the rights of the unborn. This silent minority had no way to speak and protest; they relied upon us as a moral nation to protect their right to life. Now the movement toward denying the rights of an individual to appease the collective has begun to step up the ladder and attack the minority of success. This is straight out of the teachings of Karl Marx. We are taking from the individual for the good of the many.

Now I have long complained about our progressive tax system. We are all born equal, and are guaranteed equal protection under the law. Tax code is law, what applies to one should apply to all. There are no special deals in the legal system in our country, especially when it applies to the protection of one's personal property. To take something from one person to give to another without their consent is theft, or communism.

The problem is we've traveled down the slippery slope. Where does it all end? When will the collective decide you have too much and they want their share? When will they decide it's be for the good of everyone for you to step up and do what they consider to be your fair share? Which is more than the collective has contributed to the same cause. We better wake up America!

Some may say that good and moral men would never do that. So my response is, have you read the news? Good and moral men seem to be falling by the wayside daily. They are becoming extinct in Washington, and what's left is running the country toward socialism. You cannot put your trust in those in government, ask the people affected by the devastation of Sandy how that works out. The power lies within the individual, and the rights belong to the individual. Protect the rights of the individual and the collective will be just fine.

God Bless!

Headline News!

There is little I find as unsettling as the state of journalism today. The exception might be how easily this inept reporting is absorbed and relied upon, but the laziness of the journalist tops the list. Case in point...

A report was made that several districts in Philadelphia voted 100% for President Obama in the last election cycle. Most readers read just the headline and were rightfully appalled, as it seems impossible and extremely fraud like that impossible statistic could be realistic. A great news source would then apply the process of asking who, what, when, where, and why to the story line, so the headline might be accurately backed up with facts. Very few take the time to leave the comfort of their laptop to delve into the facts behind the headlines so the reader is misled, herein lies the problem.

You see accurate on site reporting discovers that the precincts noted are only a couple of city blocks, and inhabited by a strong minority population. The scenario becomes more likely with just this information alone, but there is more to ask. How did this precinct vote the last two election cycles? Where you able to comb the streets and find any voters who voted opposite of the reported tally? Was there any push by the republicans to promote their candidate in these precincts? Was there a "get out to vote" ground game effort by the democrats that proved effective? What is the mood of the people in the precinct? None of these questions can be answered from behind a laptop, they all require effort.

This is where journalism is lacking. Apathy toward a story line leads to misinformation and that's what the reader is influenced by. Find yourself a news source that digs out the tough answers and takes the time to ask who, what, when, where, and why. Seek on site reporting, because the truth has no agenda. It merely informs you.

Republic Or Democracy?

The fall of the Republic! How did America morph from a Republic to a Democracy? Simple, we perverted the balance of power to mob rule by passing the 17th Amendment.

Originally our forefathers designed the balance of power to have the states appoint the Senators, and the people elect the House of Representatives, (hence the name). The electoral college was, and still is responsible for the election of the President. Here's how the passing of the 17th Amendment messed all that up. It left the election of the Senators to the people, not the states as the founders designed.

Currently there are 29 Republican Governors, 20 Democrats, and 1 Independent. So if those Republican controlled states sent representatives to the Senate, the balance of power would be President Democrat, House and Senate republican. Instead now we have Senators elected by popular vote. This means the population centers, which tend to run Democrat, generate a majority and tilt the balance of power toward the left.

Why is this important? Well lets say we need a balanced budget, and we do. Is the President more likely to compromise with a House and Senate united, or with the current gridlock? If the House and Senate want the President's cooperation, would they be more likely to compromise if the President dug in? Right now the only thing that's passing is Executive Orders and one might question the legality of those. We've gone from a Republic, to mob rule, and it's not working. And it's not working because we messed with the original design, way back in 1913.

It's easily fixed, repeal the 17th Amendment and go back to state appointed Senators. Then the will of the majority is represented by the House, the States have their say and are not overruled by the big population states like California and New York, and the Electoral College has it's say in who the President is. Balance of power!

Taxing!

I heard Orrin Woodward say the other night, "If you don't limit the government's ability to tax, you'll never have a limited government." Is this spot on with what the founders had in mind when they created this great nation or what? The other point this brings to mind is how taxation is used.

The statement implies the government grows it's power through taking our dollars and using them to both grow the bureaucracy, and as a form of punishment for success under the progressive tax code. What better way to transfer power than to limit the wealth of those who might challenge you through taxation?

There was billions of dollars spent in this most recent election cycle by both sides in an effort to get their candidate elected. What if the candidate who wasn't in power didn't have the financial means to compete? What if the government, "leveled the playing field," and redistributed the wealth so only the government had the resources to control the message?

A monster was created when the 16th Amendment was adopted, and it's beginning to mature. Calls to tax the producers in this country is a direct effort to move resources from the people to the control of the government. "Houston, we have a problem," and the consequences are being downplayed as insignificant.

Faith And Freedom!

I was reminded today after attending church and a Veteran's Day breakfast and celebration, that nothing worth having ever comes easy. I'd like you to reflect if your an individual who is committed to serving the Lord, is it easy to be a man or woman of faith? I find hourly challenges to temp me to walk outside what I believe to be true. This is not be coincidence, it's by design.

Our freedom is tested daily, especially today. We have a government that wants us to be submissive to their rule, despite the best efforts of our forefathers to design it differently. Veterans risked their lives to maintain that ideal, and today is the day we honor them for that sacrifice. Just like the responsibility we bear to uphold our faith, so too is the responsibility of freedom. So too are the temptations to walk away from the principles that make faith and freedom such amazing rewards. Nothing worth having is ever easily maintained. If you don't believe that, get married, buy a boat, or purchase a high end car. They all come with personal responsibility.

God Bless our nation's heroes, both living and passed. They understood the sacrifice needed to maintain something of value. I pray you do too. Remember the words of Irving Berlin....

"While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. "

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

And may God Bless you!

Planting Seeds!

I was pondering the cultural differences of our nation during the Agrarian Age and the shift to the Industrial Age. When the people of our nation were experiencing the need to farm to survive, it cultivated (pun intended) a different work ethic. If you didn't produce, you didn't survive. There were no sick days or personal days, and no one could dare vacation. You couldn't just show up to work and punch in as present, you had to produce your best effort, because anything less might mean your survival. Life demanded 110% of your effort.

The Industrial Age produced the employee mind set. Most employees aren't inspired to produce their maximum, in fact it's become acceptable to do just what's needed to stay employed. Can you imagine a farmer who just chopped enough wood to get by? Or planted just enough crops to squeak through the winter? The bare minimum could cost you your life!

The Agrarian work ethic was the first form of commission pay. You survived when you became effective! There were no forty hour work weeks, weekends off, and accumulated sick days, and your benefit package was life itself. Isn't it interesting how society has evolved? Everything in that age was designed around working to stay alive. If you failed, you were accountable. There was no FEMA, or government to clean up after problems. Personal responsibility.

Lessons Learned!

Look at all of the red. Guess its the city people in blue who love all this free stuff.

-Adrian

This is the map of how America voted in the recent Presidential Election. The red signifying those who voted for Mitt Romney and the blue, Barack Obama. There are a multitude of lessons here for us to learn, but I think the most important is that this election was won by focusing on the areas where they got the best return. The same thing applies in life. If we are distracted by areas we focus on that don't return big results, our effort is ineffective. Case in point. If you expand your knowledge on the latest reality TV show, your not going to have a major effect on your life's outcome. The same time dedicated with laser focus by reading a book on an area of self improvement will lead to a greater significance returned to you. As a democrat they could advertise like mad in Oklahoma, but the return wouldn't be as significant as those same efforts applied in Miami. One town verses a whole state.

While this map is bound to make some angry, it is a eye opener. Life and elections have much in common. The results you seek come from effort applied in the areas that yield the best return. Democrats focused on border areas, university towns, major population centers, and state capitals. We need to focus on our thoughts, because our thoughts become our actions, and our actions become our results. It's merely a matter of focus!

Just The Facts!

How's the conservative hangover coming? I know I find it difficult to recover from the idea that principles and values will be placed on the back burner for at least four more years. I was reminded of a quote by FDR that states, "Presidents are selected, not elected," and I can't help but think that selection process has already begun for the next term, at least on the democrat side. After carefully studying the outcome, I've come to believe that very little happens by coincidence, and this is a calculated plan that began yesterday and comes to fruition election day 2016. Those who espouse conservative values are not that organized.

The conservative movement is jumbled up with rino republicans who's main objective is to not ruffle feathers, stay in office, and retain their paycheck. (Perhaps you've encountered these types of individuals on your job). They go with what's popular and not what's principled as their chief objective is to get reelected.

Then we have the libertarian movement. These are about as opposed to the rino as one can become. They don't care about the outcome, just that their objective is front and center. They will either push the republican party to their way of thinking or offer and unelectable alternative to prove their point.

Last is the tea party individual. Undoubtedly principled, based upon the writings of the Constitution and the formula our forefathers bequeathed us. Not as disruptive to the process as the libertarian, as they will vote an electable rino in over a democrat if there is no other viable choice.

These are the three factions pulling in different directions on the conservative movement. While this lack of organization exists, the liberals have unified and work to move the sheep to slaughter. They stop the infighting and focus on swaying the useful idiots toward the ballot box, with promises of perks and largesse. The only way to disrupt the taking advantage of the uninformed and "give me something" crowd is to unify and educate. But conservatives are too busy having a peeing contest over who's candidate is more electable, or principled. Until conservatives find a candidate who satisfies all three factions, get used to democrat control.

It's striking how this President mirrors Franklin Delano Roosevelt our 32nd President. People have even begun to suggest that there might be an attempt to alter the term limit laws that were invoked after FDR outstayed his welcome in office. Just something to keep an eye on since no other laws are sacred to this administration.

Seeking Wisdom?

“But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Job 28:12

It would be tempting here to use this quote to rant about the election results. It's difficult to watch the decline of freedom in America, but God has a plan. Perhaps He is reminding us the value of freedom, and the need to do our personal best everyday to keep it. God hands us challenges to make us stronger. It maybe His way of telling us we need to reeducate ourselves and reevaluate our priorities. We don't know why God chose last night's results, but we do know it's for a purpose. Remember, and live, these words.

"Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil is understanding."-Job 28:28

We need wisdom and understanding right now more than ever. Remember to do you personal best everyday to reinforce the principles that will gain you the kingdom of heaven.

Yes, You Can!

Today we in the United States of America have the unique opportunity to exercise one of our most precious freedoms. A freedom that cost many lives and needs to be renewed daily. We are blessed with the freedom of casting our ballots to elect our leaders. It's designed to be the most powerful force in government, paid for with the blood of our ancestors, not to be taken lightly. This suggests you not only vote, but you vote as a citizen that's done their due diligence and understands the issues.

It's not my place to tell anyone how, or what, to vote for, but it is everyone's responsibility to encourage those eligible to exercise the right to vote. And today is the day we get to decide how our country is led. Encourage your friends and neighbors to honor the sacrifice it took to win this freedom, and let their voices be heard. Every vote counts. Every vote is important, and every vote says you respect the right God has given you, a right that brave men and women fought for to insure no one denied you that privledge. Respect you right and go vote! It's time to pay tribute to that sacrifice!

An Alternative Explanation!

I think we can all confess that our current President has something about him that's just not quite right. He's all dolled up and polished like a vehicle offered on a one day used car sale promotion, but there is just something fishy about what he's offering. Here's a point of view that just might explain why America might take a second look before pulling the voting handle tomorrow!

Dr. Sam Vaknin is an Israeli psychologist. Interesting view on our President.

Dr. Vaknin has written extensively about narcissism.

Dr. Vaknin States "I must confess I was impressed by Obama from the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident -- a wholesome presidential package. I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling.. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words. Obama's speeches are unlike any political speech we have heard in American history. Never a politician in this land had such quasi "religious" impact on so many people.

The fact that Obama is a total incognito with Zero accomplishment, makes this inexplicable infatuation alarming. Obama is not an ordinary man. He is not a genius. In fact he is quite ignorant on most important subjects."

Dr. Sam Vaknin, the author of the Malignant Self Love believes "Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist." Vaknin is a world authority on narcissism. He understands narcissism and describes the inner mind of a narcissist like no other person. When he talks about narcissism everyone listens. Vaknin says that Obama's language, posture and demeanor, and the testimonies of his closest, dearest friends suggest that the man is either a narcissist or he may have narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves. Jim Jones, the charismatic leader of People's Temple, the man who led over 900 of his followers to cheerfully commit mass suicide and even murder their own children was also a narcissist. David Koresh, Charles Manson, Joseph Koni, Shoko Asahara, Stalin, Saddam, Mao, Kim Jong Ill and Adolph Hitler are a few examples of narcissists of our time. All these men had a tremendous influence over their fanciers. They created a personality cult around themselves and with their blazing speeches elevated their admirers, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and instilled in their minds a new zest for life. They gave them hope! They promised them the moon, but alas, invariably they brought them to their doom.

When you are a victim of a cult of personality, you don't know it until it is too late. One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse "Obama's early life was decidedly chaotic and replete with traumatic and mentally bruising dislocations,"says Vaknin. "Mixed-race marriages were even less common then. His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant two years old. Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. Then his mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia , a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a step-father. At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white) grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. "She died of cancer in 1995."

One must never underestimate the manipulative genius of pathological narcissists. They project such an imposing personality that it overwhelms those around them. Charmed by the charisma of the narcissist, people become like clay in his hands. They cheerfully do his bidding and delight to be at his service. The narcissist shapes the world around himself and reduces others in his own inverted image. He creates a cult of personality. His admirers become his co-dependents. Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objective. They are focused on one thing alone and that is power. All other issues are meaningless to them and they do not want to waste their precious time on trivialities. Anything that does not help them is beneath them and does not deserve their attention.

If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The "present" vote is a safe vote. No one can criticize him if things go wrong. Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him.

Obama's election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and advance to write a book about race relations. The University of Chicago Law School provided him a lot longer than expected and at the end it evolved into, guess what? His own autobiography! Instead of writing a scholarly paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book Dreams from My Father.

Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still a nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self. Why would he waste his precious time and genius writing about insignificant things when he can write about such an august being as himself?

Narcissists are often callous and even ruthless. As the norm, they lack conscience. This is evident from Obama's lack of interest in his own brother who lives on only one dollar per month.. A man who lives in luxury, who takes a private jet to vacation in Hawaii, and who raised nearly half a billion dollars for his campaign (something unprecedented in history) has no interest in the plight of his own brother. Why? Because, his brother cannot be used for his ascent to power. A narcissist cares for no one but himself.

This election was like no other in the history of America . The issues were insignificant compared to what is at stake. What can be more dangerous than having a man bereft of conscience, a serial liar, and one who cannot distinguish his fantasies from reality as the leader of the free world?

I hate to sound alarmist, but one is a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no threat to others. They are simply self serving and selfish. Obama evidences symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or a Bill Clinton for example. To him reality and fantasy are intertwined.

This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw.

Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this disguise that makes them treacherous. Today the Democrats have placed all their hopes in Obama. But this man could put an end to their party. The great majority of blacks voted for Obama. Only a fool does not know that their support for him is racially driven. This is racism, pure and simple.

The downside of this is that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the whites. The blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their man. Cultic mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama's detractors of racism. This will cause a backlash among the whites. The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels never seen since the turbulent 1960's.

Obama will set the clock back decades. America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the world depends on the strength of America , and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations.. It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Castrists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists, and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of their man in the White House.

America is on the verge of destruction. There is no insanity greater than electing a pathological narcissist as president.

Kryptonite!

As one could imagine the uptake of political ads is unprecedented in the final days leading up to the election. One thing I can take away from the constant barrage is that there is a theme that crosses party lines. Every single one of the potential office holders vows to cut "wasteful spending." It's apparently a universal enemy of every candidate as they are all completely opposed to it. With such agreement and commitment to abolish this evil foe, one might think that "wasteful spending" couldn't possibly survive against such odds.

I'm thinking it can't be as easy as the politicians proposed. Perhaps it's joined forces with the "war on poverty" which also has eternal life. Or maybe it's in collusion with "debt reduction" which also has a history of longevity. In any case it's a battle of evil foes that seem to possess some sort of super power that enables it to deflect the best weapons of politicians, thereby allowing those causes to live in eternity. One might come to think those evil doers are similar to kryptonite's effect on Superman.

Or wasteful spending could be subject to interpretation.

Are We Soft?

I heard a story about a man the other day who went to his accountant and received some startling news. "Bob, you just became an individual who has met the qualifications of living in poverty." Bob was distressed! As he left the office after paying the bill, he called his wife on his cell phone to break the news. Dejected he climbed into his car and drove to his three bedroom two bath house to ponder the news. Mindlessly he turned on his sixty inch flat screen TV in search of better economic times, and went to his full stocked kitchen for a snack to munch on.

This is the poverty line in America as defined by the government.

I was a little shocked at the helplessness exhibited in the northeast in the aftermath of Sandy. People screaming into TV microphones about how they are "dying down here," When did we lose the ability to survive? How did our ancestors muddle through without gas, electricity, or ATMs? What did victims of disasters do prior to Jimmy Carter inventing FEMA? I mean America survived over 200 years with hurricanes, floods, tornados, and fires, without federal assistance. We took responsibility for our neighbors, and most importantly we were prepared. There was a back up food supply. We have a pile of firewood to keep warm and cook.

Now don't get me wrong, there is quite an outpouring of compassion and charity by people for the victims of the storm. But there are far too many victims that shouldn't be victims because they had no level of preparation, and rely solely on the comfort the government will step in and do for them. What if the disaster took out all government and it's services?

We need to be able to do for ourselves, and our neighbors. If you put your security in the hands of others, you'll be disappointed. Use this event to toughen up and analyze how prepared you are for disaster. Can you survive two weeks without any form of service? Question yourself boldly!

Is The Path Clear?

The clock is winding down on the upcoming Presidential election, just five more days and it will be revealed who has painted their vision to the satisfaction of the American people. Vision casting always includes an element of waking people out of their apathy, and that's what this election is all about. It's going to boil down to whom gets their voters out to register their ballots. Who is going to rally those impassioned about the existing problems this country faces.

The visionary always presents the solution to the problem. They address the perceived need, and for others to join you they have to have a clear picture of your solution. Herein lies a problem with politics. To present a defined picture of your plan leaves you open to criticism. So generally the vision painted for the future by politicians is a mist, a mist designed to fog the view. Clarity is not prudent in a campaign. Quite a challenge to rally support without specifics!

This explains the generic campaign slogans such as "forward!" Probably a good plan in a traffic jam, but not if your in line for execution. If you look back on political campaign slogans you'll understand. "Hope and change, a chicken in every pot, a plan for the future," these are all muddled visions designed to generically excite the mob to vote. They prey on ignorance and attempt to overcome apathy. Soon we'll see who took the palate and painted their vision for America to the satisfaction of the voters who stood in attendance.

The ABC'S

What goals should education seek? Certainly the ability to read, write, understand science, and do math are the basis for any education. But what I'm speaking to is the skills required to live a fruitful life. Here are some suggestions.

The ability to understand human nature and lead accordingly.

The ability to identify needed personal traits and turn them into habits.

The ability to establish, maintain, and improve lasting relationships.

The ability to keep one's life in proper balance.

The ability to discern truth and error regardless of the source or delivery.

The ability to discern truth from right.

The ability and discipline to do right.

The ability and discipline to constantly improve.

Now that's an education. Think about what a better world this would be if we all possessed these basic skills. We could have less government, better relationships, less law enforcement, the list goes on and on. Yet none of these are taught in a government controlled education system. They seem to indoctrinate children on the advantages of liberalism, but neglect to instill the teachings that could make the world a better place to live. How much easier would a teacher's job be if just the last suggestion was impressed on the young mind? There is a huge gap between our current curriculum and the basics for an education that teaches life skills. Have you ever wondered why?

Empty Nest?

As a parent, how does one know when they've been successful raising their brood? When a child emerges from adolescence without a police record? When the children graduate college? When they land their first job? When the first grandchild is born?

Those are the rewards of successful parenting. They highlight milestones of years of great influence that led to those significant achievements. The parent that has a great relationship with a responsible, mature, adult child knows success. This was accomplished by day after day of responsible parenting, leading by example, and imparting influence that made an impression.

While the job really never ends, success leaves clues!

I'll Be Your Round-About!

"There are no speed limits on the road to destruction (which may, in part, account for its popularity)."-Chris Brady (LIFE founder)

I'd be remiss if I didn't repeat this quote for everyone. It's a fantastic combination of truth and humor. An interesting point is there is usually no one blocking your path either. But every once in a while someone from the LIFE business gets over in the left hand lane and runs interference. Occasionally we are also capable of running that vehicle of destruction off the road, and point it in the right direction. It's like a bizarre version of non-demolition derby. I love what we do, the results are so gratifying. So those of you who have joined in this mission, let's get out there and be the round-abouts that redirect those vehicles of destruction!

Define The Why!

It's interesting how the motivation involved behind a task changes the perspective. Very few of us would find the labor behind filling bags with dirt appealing. It's hard, dirty, back breaking labor. But if the cause was defined as using those bags to build a dike to keep a town from flooding, the work would take on a whole new appeal. Perhaps it's more the vision of what your laboring for that defines the tedium of the chore?

The assignment of purpose makes the medicine go down. We'd be hard pressed to find people to voluntarily become the operator of a shovel; it's simply work that most people find beneath them. Redefine the purpose to saving someone who's buried in a hole and those shovel operators are many and dedicated. We are creatures that seek significance. We need purpose to fulfill an assignment with vim and vigor. This is why it's so important as a leader to be able to paint the vision of purpose. Purpose drives people! Lack of purpose ignites a mediocre effort at best. Results are defined by the vision of the reward, and the reward has to invoke a sense of significance. Define the why!

A Bountiful Harvest!

Last night I was inspired with the comment, "a seed that's not planted can never grow." What struck me in those words was how they relayed the potential inside each and everyone of us. We all have seeds of greatness within. The only thing that keeps us from our own victory is the transfer of that seed into an environment that inspires us to sprout. I'm in such an environment this weekend!

We all can hone our potential to achieve the results of say, Mother Theresa when it comes to faith and charity, or perhaps we want a "Father Knows Best" crop of family life. Maybe we'd like the financial genius of Warren Buffet, or the drive for freedom of Patrick Henry. It doesn't matter which of the eight "F's" we choose to excel in, the potential is right inside of us. The common denominator shared by everyone who excels is they got better information, and acted upon it. Greatness is not reserved for a certain class of people, it merely a matter of making a decision to cultivate the harvest that's buried deep inside of each and everyone of us.

You can't harvest that crop without taking the necessary steps. The soil must be tilled and fertile enough to support growth. It has to be sprinkled daily with information so it has the nutrition to extend its roots and not wither. The weeds of doubt and ego must be pulled to prevent the choking off of growth, and finally those seeds need daily sunshine and the warming input of love and nurturing. These are the keys to a bountiful harvest of exceptionalism! It's not a secret, it's a process!

Great Verses Ugly!

What an outstanding event! Surrounded by tens of thousands of like minded people, absorbing nuggets on leadership, freedom, faith, fun, fitness, finance, family, following, and friends! Bombshell ideas, and principle based teaching, that's designed to change our culture back to one of personal responsibility, and education.

That last part is key! How do we find our country in the mess it's currently in? Simple, we became ignorant and apathetic. It's time we got back to a level of understanding. Our citizens bear the personal responsibility of being informed and educated enough to know when we're being misled.

Being here in Ohio, a swing state, I cannot express the level of ignorance that the media is playing to, in order to attract votes. I made the mistake of turning on the radio in my rental car, and I have to tell you, if Washington and the media thinks the voting population is that dumb, we are cooked as a nation. One ad in particular really blew my mind. A democrat super-pac is imploring men of Afro-American heritage to vote for two unconscionable reasons. First, the guy running against the President is white, and as a black man you don't want a white individual telling you what to do. Their second point was all the black women have already cast their vote for the President and it's their responsibility as a male member of the black community to not allow women to outdo them. Now there are two valid reasons to elect someone. Is there any wonder why our nation is in total chaos?

We have a lot of educating to do. Principles are lost, and values have been abandoned. There is no reason for the above ignorance to even exist in our great nation. It's time to change the culture of our voting population and demand better. Last tidbit, turn off the media that's dumbing down America!

God Bless!
