It's that time again! Another leadership convention on the grounds of Ohio State University, where tens of thousands of like minded people will gather to remind themselves how important their role is in changing the culture of this nation.
I'm a little delayed in departing as this little weather event is putting into question if my departure is going to happen. It's not the first time weather has played a factor, but it's not usually fall, but winter that tries to impede our voyage into leadership. Snow, hurricanes, it doesn't matter. Leaders find a way to get things done, and be there I will!
This reminds me of a voyage into leadership a couple of years ago. Typing this as the power just went out, I recall flying into Atlanta, Georgia to meet my connecting flight to St. Louis. Just when it appeared we were going to be stranded because of airport closures due to snow, an alternative came to mind. We rebooked into Memphis, where the snow had yet to hit, rented a car and drove to St. Louis to arrive at oh- dark- thirty, but there none the less!
Leadership demands outside the box thinking! In order to be extraordinary, you'll be required to do the extraordinary. That's what separates the leaders from the herd. So bring it hurricane Sandy, leaders love a challenge!
God Bless!
Capt. Bill
