God Bless America!

A decade later we sit and memorialize the victims of 9/11/2001; for some, (those in their twenties), it's been a life time, for others, a moment in time, but for all it's time to forgive. Never have these words rung so true....

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

With this prayer we are reminded how to memorialize this day. This is the way a free and powerful nation responds to adversity. We are reminded that by some of the verses in America the Beautiful.

"America, America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea! "

And from the second stanza...

"America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!"

And from the third stanza....

" O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine! "

And from the fourth stanza.....

"O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! "

And from the final verse....

"America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee! "

We will never forget, but we must forgive.

God Bless!
Capt. Bill
