"No man can climb out beyond the limitations of his own character."-John Morley
When a leader's character is strong, people trust them, and they trust in their ability to release their potential. This is why impeccable character is the cornerstone of leadership. If we think long and hard enough about it, leadership is based upon relationships. Relationships are based upon trust, and trust is the result of good character.
As an example Christianity took a shot in the public's eye in the late 1980's. Several high profile Christian leaders were called out on moral issues. Their lack of character wounded the ability of church leadership to pass on a message, as they were all held in contempt as hypocrites. To this day, people are suspicious of church leaders, because of the moral lapse of a few. The flawed character of those fallen leaders destroyed the credibility the foundation of their leadership was based on. People will never trust someone who slips in character.
"People will tolerate honest mistakes, but if you violate their trust you will find it very difficult to regain their confidence. That is one reason that you need to treat trust as your most precious asset."-Craig Weatherup PepsiCo chairman and CEO.
Living a life where anything goes, will ultimately be a life where nothing goes.....
God Bless!
