The laws of fiscal solvency are so simple to follow, one has to wonder why more people fail at finance? I guess that's exactly the reason, people finance. The thought of actually waiting to purchase something till they have the funds is a lost art. Here's some basic laws of financial success.
Live on the barest minimum possible. This is mandatory until all bills are paid and all creditors satisfied, there is no room for extras or luxury.
Save something, even if it's five dollars a month. It's a habit we have to get into. Disciplining ourselves financially is the key to success.
If paid in doesn't cover paid outs, lower expenses, or get a second job.
Credit cards are to have a zero balance at the end of the month. If you can't pay it off, don't buy it!
Never purchase anything on credit, even if it's a same as cash deal.
If you ever do ignore the rule above, never purchase anything on credit that depreciates.
Sell what you don't use to help satisfy your debts. How many broke people have a garage full of stuff they haven't used in years collecting dust?
Cable TV, cell phones, and Internet service are luxuries. Until you are debt free these need to be suspended. I've yet to meet a broke person who didn't have all three of these.
Once you have saved an emergency fund of a thousand dollars, and put away six months salary for a rainy day, then you can consider setting financial goals to purchase those little extras that make life more enjoyable. Learn to deny yourself until that's accomplished.
"What the world is crying out for is men and women of character and
courage, who will learn to face their fears and do the right thing no matter
what, who won't make excuses, blame others, or hide behind convoluted
rationale." -Rascal
And remember, if you have to borrow money to finance recreation, it's not time to play!
God Bless!
Capt. Bill
P.S. I would appreciate it if you'd pass this on to your Congressman.
