Education and Government

Yesterday I introduced you to Eric, a young man with a lot on his plate. I went to great lengths to admonish our school system for failing to provide a moral compass for our youth. While I still believe the current system is deeply flawed, I want to make sure and correct an impression I may have left. The school system is not where the problem begins, it's in the home. The initial responsibility for teaching lies in the hands of the parents.

Eric had a home life riddled with negative influences. While his mom and dad failed to extol a guideline between right and wrong, he did and does have grandparents to emulate. Basic family values are where we have to begin. Discipline, respect, work ethic, and morality are grounded and taught as a responsibility of the parents. It's the schools job to reinforce those principles and values. If you consider the average child's schedule, you can see how this responsibility is important. A good seven hours of the day, five days a week our youth is under the guidance of the school system. Since a child usually sleeps about ten hours during any given twenty four hour period, that only leaves seven hours for home work, playtime, eating, interaction with friends outside of school, (sports, music, etc) and the care and love of their parents. Other than sleep it's the largest block of their day. You can see how the influence of school is critical.

Recently our president publicly announce to the nation his admiration for the Chinese school system. The kids spend longer days being taught and influenced by someone outside the home. This the president concluded produced a better end result educationally. The Chinese have passed by the family unit in favor of the government. The children are taught to obey governmental policies, not moral absolutes. Rather than hang the damnation of eternity in hell, they instill the shame of dishonoring the government as the higher power they cleave to. So in reality government has become their creator and savior. To fail the government will result in damnation here on earth. This is where our president and those progressive liberals want to take our nation. A nation founded upon the moral absolutes of a Judeo-Christian philosophy. It's the camel's nose under the tent toward government control and the loss of parental rights. Once the first generation is indoctrinated with the need to please the government, it's a forgone conclusion the process will duplicate itself, and future generations will realize the government as the one true god in their existence. This is where President Obama's hope and change lies.

I hope you can see the importance of bringing the family back to center stage. There is a court battle going on right now over a parent's right to home school. They can't have our youth learning anything outside the indoctrination of the government, now can we?

God Bless!
Capt. Bill
