Has anyone else noticed that people whose minds are focused on the past seem to a little depressed? They tend to use phrases like; "I used to", or "I miss", those words alone insinuate a melancholy attitude. It doesn't work driving around in a car through the rear view mirror. Why would we take that approach on life?
Some people tend to focus on the here and now. They live in the present only addressing short term issues in their lives. I've found them to be a little critical. They narrowed their focus to a small microcosm, a defined time frame and just pick it to pieces. Everything in their life is an issue! They tend to live their live in a reactive, not a proactive way, bending and adjusting to whatever comes next. I find them to be busy people, unfortunately in that mode, they aren't very productive, nor positive.
Have you noticed the happiest people are those with a vision of the future. They are anticipating the next wonderful event, like a child looks forward to Christmas. Outlooks like that are natural attractors, people love to be in the company of goal driven visionaries. I'll bet you've experience this yourself, looking forward to that upcoming vacation, the birth of a child, your new car, or perhaps your new home. It's also safe to bet the excitement and anticipation your experiencing spills over to others.
So where's your focus?
God Bless
Capt. Bill
