It's been an interesting week in politics already and it's only Wednesday. The issue that stands out to me this week is the never ending hypocrisy in Washington. It's like they all got invited to a theme party and everyone had to attend as a hypocrite. I sit here reminded that we have elections looming in November and how important it is that we demand representatives that exude the qualities we live up to everyday. Is society that eroded that we can't find representatives that don't lie, don't use racial slurs, don't use four letter expletives, and don't demean handicapped citizens?
Has Washington become such a den of iniquity that everyone sent there becomes tainted? It's never acceptable to misrepresent anything to achieve the results you desire. Yet it's commonplace among our politicians. Apparently the misguided writing's of radical Saul Alinsky have become the playbook, and poisoned the integrity of the people we send to speak for us.
As our representatives they are a reflection of "We the people." Do you like being seen as a country lacking in character and integrity? The time has come to demand a higher standard. Last November we compromised in our candidates and our votes to seek a change. We had the message right, we just got on the wrong train. Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia have already spoken, yet the arrogance of our leaders ignored the message. The euphoria of power has clouded their judgement, they've forgotten their power is granted by the people.
This has to start at ground level. We need to put pressure on the candidates at a local level, and the party level to screen the offerings. We don't want to vote for the lesser of two evils, you still have an evil. Demand candidates vetted for character and integrity.
God Bless
Capt. Bill
