In Memoriam

The world lost a great resource yesterday with the departure of Stephen R. Covey. His impact on society through his authoring of outstanding personal development books, and the creation of the FranklinCovey Corporation will echo for generations. I think Stephen Covey described his life best with the mission statement that the company that bears his name lives by.

"We enable greatness in people and organizations everywhere."

Now that's a legacy! His most famous book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, also holds a key to the man. The little footnote right under the title is a mission statement for all to live by.

"Restoring the Character Ethic."

He believed in the wisdom of Aristotle, passed down through the ages, when he said.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

So Mr. Stephen R. Covey thank you for your impact on society! Thank you for a legacy of leadership thinking and teaching of leadership skills. And most of all, thank you for sharing.

God Bless!
Capt. Bill
