Mick Jagger sung a timelessly popular song,"I can't get no satisfaction," and it's timeless for a reason! The ditty totally describes how we humans are hardwired to always seek something more. If you take the time to think about it our satisfaction in just about everything is a fleeting thing. Look at the cell phone industry, a new model hits the market and you no sooner figure out how to turn it on and low and behold the next generation is introduced. The same applies for I-pads, cars, laptops, clothing style, the list is never ending. It all feeds off our lack of satisfaction.
This lack of satisfaction has led to many advancements and creature comforts in our lives, but it has also been the source of our biggest curse. The Bible tells us that God created man and placed him in a piece of paradise called Eden, a bit of heaven on earth. Now describing how wonderful that must have been is like trying to teach an ant calculus. We just can't comprehend it's wonders as we don't have the capacity. If you could imagine the purest form of gold, the most precious metal on earth, well, that's used as asphalt, for an example. It's just way past our comprehension, so anyway.... Man's dissatisfaction was addressed by God when he decided to bless us with...woman. Then while living in this paradise, a little piece of heaven, again we were dissatisfied. Man had to taste the forbidden fruit, because his life was not complete. The result of our lack of satisfaction was eviction from paradise, and the burden of sin. Why? Because..."I can't get no....satisfaction!" Ole Mick is pretty observant, if not prophetic!
God Bless!
