One of the outstanding features of my position is the quality time I get to spend with the #7 leadership expert in the world Orrin Woodward. Today's mentoring session started at 0-dark thirty, (4 AM) on a ride to the Orlando airport. Almost two hours of being a sponge and despite the bewitching hour Orrin didn't disappoint. Here's the gist of what I was taught....
The key to becoming a giant in this business, and affecting as many people as possible lives in a positive manner, lies in our top five books. Reading and rereading them until you can quote them page, and verse unlocks success. Orrin told me he can tell how soon a round table achiever is ready for a policy counsel run by this simple test. If they continually come to him with questions that are answered in those five books, they are not ready.
Note to self: replace what your reading on your nightstand now with the top five books, now!
He also advised me not to miss out the books of the month passed down in our system as they are important as well, but be sure to compliment my reading by pouring myself into the top five.
