No Nonsense Healthcare Proposal!

Yesterday Washington released the long awaited Max Baucus written health care plan. It was suppose to be a bi-partisan effort to introduce Universal Healthcare Reform. I'm afraid the only bi-partisan result is it has upset both sides of the isle. The nicest thing I can find to say about this bill is it's less than 250 pages, at least they're doing their part to save some trees. Well, except the idea needs to be thrown in the trash. My prayer is it can all be recycled into toilet paper so it can serve a worthy purpose.

Elected officials just don't get it! Maybe it due to the fact most of them are career politicians, and have no actual business experience. Corporations don't pay taxes! While they might sign the check you receive, the actual revenue generated is added to the price of the product or service and passed on to the consumer. So anytime you tax, fine, or levy the corporations, businesses, etc. the consumer is taxed. This third party taxation seems to appease lawmakers because we don't directly pay it to them, or they just think we are ignorant. So Mr. Baucus, when you tax any health care premium you are in fact taxing us. Isn't that raising the cost of health care? Wasn't the goal here to make health care affordable to all?

Capital Hill is using healthcare as a fund raiser. The reforms don't have to cost money. Eliminate fraud, we are already paying people to oversee this, both inside the programs and in the legal field. Demand they do their jobs, that doesn't cost a dime! Do we need to send film students in to go undercover to expose medicaid and medicare fraud? They did a wonderful job exposing ACORN at a total out of pocket expense of $1300.00. That was going on right under your noses for years, but they saw a need and got to work. Let's turn them loose on health care fraud!

Open up inter-state insurance commerce, no funding needed there. Promoting competition across state lines will do wonders for pricing! Can anyone in Washington tell me why this hasn't been done? Just one reason.

Here's the beauty, also cost free. Tort reform, limit awards and hold accountable frivolous law suits. This was done in Texas and California and they've seen a 40% drop in insurance premiums. Get out of the lawyer's pockets and do your jobs!

There is no need to look at other countries healthcare models. Ours is just needs a little fine tuning. But you couldn't use it as a fund raiser then could you? I've just written a healthcare proposal that anyone can vote for, it'll save an incredible amount of money, and I still have 249 pages worth of trees not used. Those green people have to be on board with that!

Wait, I forgot a couple of issues, every bill has amendments. Insist healthcare providers eliminate pre-existing conditions and demand that everyone is eligible for insurance. Caps on coverage are now a no-no, and policies are transferable from job to job. Deductables and out of pocket expenses are to be kept in check, maybe the State Insurance Commisioner could pitch in here. Lastly no one can be dropped from insurance coverage for reasons other than non-payment.

Done, sign it and let's move on!
God Bless
