Way To Go Joe!

Although I've been critical of the Obama administration, the door swings both ways on this blog. I'll be happy to give them the kudos they deserve when they act worthy, and the time has come. I watched Vice President Joe Biden and President Obama give speeches at the funerals for those coal miners lost in the West Virginia tragedy. I have to say the words they passed on to the mourners were perfect, and I'm going to especially point out Joe Biden, his unique ability to be an average Joe was especially beneficial. Joe touched the crowd and the nation as he related to the families and friends gathered to honor the memory of those lost. President Obama spoke eloquently, as he always does, and also was able to bring a level of comfort to the hurting. It was incredible to see those two use their gifts in such a needed way. Thank you for easing their pain!

I'll be passing through Beckley, West Virginia the middle of this week, it's a pretty town nestled between the mountains. The coal barges will be running up and down the Kanawha river, and the industry will move forward, regardless of the tragedy. But I will be reminded of the incredible sacrifice those who work in extreme conditions make to power our country. Coal not only powers our nation but it fuels the economy of West Virginia and the other nearby states that mine for it, in fact it's their heartbeat. Just like the auto industry is to Michigan, and the sunshine is to Florida, and it has been for generations. Let me join the others who have offered a prayer for the families of these hard working men, and again thank the President and the Vice President for their soothing words at a much needed time.

God Bless
Capt. Bill
